County Seniors Championship

The second and final round of the Seniors Championship proved to be a dramatic one.

The 15 players who made the halfway cut were separated by only 7 shots, with defending Champion Steve Findlay holding a 1 shot overnight lead.

The conditions were cool with a gentle breeze.

Late bogeys on 17 & 18 from Steve Findlay dropped him into a tie for first place with Alan McBride, which forced a 3 hole play off, over holes 1, 2 and 18, with the best aggregate score winning.

Ultimately it was Alan who came out on top and won the Championship, along with the RW Johnson Decanter for the best gross for the over 65’s.

Well done to Alan who will now go on to compete in the Champion of Champions event at Woodhall Spa in September.

The Tim Bull Trophy, awarded to the best netting score over the first 18 holes went to Michael Brown of Morpeth, with a 2 under par nett 71.
