1st & 2nd Division Teams Championship – Bedlingtonshire GC- 27 June 2026.

Bedlingtonshire Golf Club hosted the 1st & 2nd Division Teams Championship today on a sweltering day in Northumberland.

We must thank the Club and particularly Alex and the Greens Team getting the course in excellent condition. There was an unbelievable downpour last night, which washed sand into the base of most of the bunkers, 12 hours later you would never have known, a pre 5am start from the Team got the course back in great shape by the 7:15 first tee time. This effort in dedication makes all the difference and is never taken for granted, we really appreciate it.

The clubhouse team looked after us really well, with excellent food, thank you.

Personal thanks to Club Manager Mark who was raking bunkers with the Greens Team, his help and support has been exceptional, in the run up to and on the day.

On to the Golf, where Bedlington rose to the challenge and won the 2nd Division title, well done to the team of Club Captain, Jack Baird, Craig Taylor and Adam Wright, who won by 6 from Gosforth Golf Club

The promoted Teams are Bedlingtonshire, Gosforth, Bellingham and Goswick Links.

Individual honours went to James Grant of Goswick Links, who carded a level par 73 to edge out home favourite Craig Taylor on the countback.

The 1st Division was a keenly contested affair with some outstanding individual scoring, with 9 players finishing under par.

The 1st Division winners were the The City of Newcastle Golf Club who got over the line by 4 strokes from Hexham.

Huge congratulations to Will Handyside, Andrew Minnikin and Phil Ridden, who go on to represent Northumberland in the England Golf Champion Club event in Derbyshire this September.

Phil Ridden won the individual award by virtue of an excellent second round 67, this was good enough to edge out Northumberland player Harry Sewell on the countback after they both finished on 8 under par.

Unfortunately The Longhirst,Dunstanburgh Castle, Newcastle United and Ponteland Golf Clubs drop into the 2nd Division
