North-South Trophy- Bamburgh Castle Golf Club – 2 May 2026

We were at the wonderful Bamburgh Castle Golf Club for the 2026 North-South Trophy, where a field of 81 competed to win our first individual scratch competition of the season.

The course was presented in immaculate condition, on a calm sunny day on the glorious Northumberland coast.

Firstly a huge thank you to the Golf Club for looking after us so well, from Alice and the Office Team to Paul and the Clubhouse Team we were looked after superbly. We must also thank Gareth and the Greens Team for all of their hard work in presenting the course in such fine condition, we really appreciate it.

On to the golf where we had a really competitve event, with Phil Ridden and Josh Brookes leading after the first round with 3 under par rounds of 65. It was all to play for in round 2, with Tynemouth player Stew Fell setting an early clubhouse lead of 136, level par. With a few holes to play, Mark Wharton, Andrew Griffiths, Phil Ridden and Lee Cattermole were all in contention. Ultimately it was Stocksfield Golfer Lee Cattermole who got the job done, winning his first County event in the process, with rounds of 67 and 68 for a 1 under par total of 135. Well done Lee.
