NUGC v Lothians Golf Association – 19 April 2026 – Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club

A lovely day on the links at Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course, where we entertained Lothians Golf Association in our annual curtain raiser to the season.

This year saw a revised format of singles only, Captain Andrew Minnikin fielded a team which blended youth and experience, handing debuts to Close House duo Angus Ball and Carl Thompson. 

In a match that is always played in great spirit, we managed a 7.5 to 4.5 victory, securing our first win in a number of years.

Well done to all players, particularly to Andrew Griffiths, who secured his County Colours with his 3rd singles victory, we are delighted for you Grifter.

Once again a huge thanks to the Club, the course was in superb condition, with the Greens absolutely perfect. The food and service in the clubhouse was excellent – we look forward to returning soon.

The season is in full swing, with our first scratch event, The North & South Trophy at Bamburgh castle on 2 May.
