The NUGC, as the men’s amateur golf governing body in Northumberland, focuses on administering county championships, team competitions, and coaching programs. Affiliated with England Golf, the NUGC manages course measurements and slope ratings for its member clubs and serves as the local authority on the R&A Rules of Golf and Handicapping.

Seniors Match Play – Mike Fleming Salver
Today, the semifinals and final of the Northumberland County Seniors Matchplay championship were played at Longhirst golf club. Thanks to the County President Paul Brennan for refereeing the match. Much appreciated. The course was extremely well presented thanks to Graham and his staff. As usual they made us very welcome.
County Championship Week
The 2024 County Championship qualifying took place at Matfen Hall on 29 June, with a field of 73 taking part. The scoring was strong in the early stages until the westerly wind picked up and a lot of the under par scores disappeared. In the battle for the Renwick Medal,
English U18 Amateur Championship
Harrison Sewell of the Northumberland Golf Club came agonisingly close to winning the England Golf, English U18 Amateur Championship at Hesketh Golf Club. Going into the final round, Harrison found himself 7 shots behind, however a stunning 8 under par round of 64, which was good enough to break the
County Championship Qualifying
Matfen Hall kindly hosted the qualifying for the County Championship on Saturday 29 June, the course was presented in excellent condition and we were looked after very well, a huge thanks to Nicola and her Golf team and Keith and the Hotel staff, your help is greatly appreciated by all
