NUGC v Durham County Golf Union- 10 May 2025- Tynemouth Golf Club

A glorious day here at Tynemouth Golf Club, where we entertained Durham in the first Northern Counties fixture of the season.

A strong start by Northumberland gave us a 4-2 advantage following the Foursomes. There were wins for Fell & Wharton, Thoburn & Bullen, Laws & Henderson and Griffiths and Conn.

After a strong afternoon performance by Durham, it came down to the last hole in the last match to determine the outcome. James Conn and Sam Robinson were tied playing the last, with James needing a win on the 18th to force a half in the match. It wasn’t to be however, with Sam making an excellent birdie to secure a 1 up victory, meaning Durham ran out 10-8 winners- well done.

On what was a disappointing result there were real positives with a strong Foursomes performance, and also a first win for Dan Bullen.

A huge thank you to Tynemouth Golf Club who could not have done more in terms of their course presentation and hospitality, we were looked after extremely well- thank you, we really appreciate it.

We are next in Northern Counties action on 15 June where we travel to Ringway Golf Club to play Cheshire.
