A cool and breezy day greeted the County Finalists, who were playing for a place in the Northumberland & Durham Inter County Foursomes Final.

The Northumberland Final was contested between Bedlingtonshire, who were represented by Ben Brown and Jack Baird, and the Goswick duo of Joe Atkinson and Alan Potts. 

A dominant performance by the Bedlingtonshire youngsters resulted in a convincing 7&6 victory and a place in the Final.

The Durham final was between Boldon, represented by Michael Calvert and Gavin Nesbit, against Consett, who had Mark Bonser and the evergreen John Kennedy playing.

This was a particularly tight contest, which went to extra holes, with a par 3 on the 20th, being enough to send Consett into the final. 

The final was also extremely close with Bedlingtonshire coming back from 2 down through 3, to have a 1 up lead through 7. Costly bogeys on the par 5’s, 8 and 10 saw Consett move to 1 up, a lead which they held until the 14th, when a par 3 for Bedlingtonshire levelled the match. 

A par 3 on 16 saw Consett take the lead, which they held onto and secured a 1up victory. 

Well done to John and Mark – commiserations to Ben and Jack.
