On Saturday 22 June, we had a great weather day at Newbiggin for the 1st and 2nd Division Teams Championships.
Firstly a big thanks to Newbiggin and their members for giving up the course today. It’s much appreciated by all at the County.
The winners of the first Division are the City of Newcastle, who were represented by Zak Laws, Andrew Minnikin and Phil Ridden, with a 6 round total of 455. They will now represent Northumberland in the England Golf Champion Club event, at Stanton on the Wolds Golf Club on 21 & 22 September 2024. Good luck to the City.
In the individual event it was Sean Heads who won by a single stroke with a 2 over par total of 146. Well done Sean.
Relegated to the second division were Whitley Bay, Prudhoe, Arcot Hall and Newcastle United.
The second Division was won by the Slaley Hall trio of Brandon Bailey, Josh Brookes and Richie Lawson, they will be joined in Division 1 by Ponteland, Warkworth and Magdalene Fields.
Completing the clean sweep for Slaley was Richie Lawson who won the individual with a 1 over par 73.
Well done to all 4 teams on their promotion.
Finally, special mention to the evergreen Sandy Twynholm who had a hole in one on the 12th hole, which was playing 213 yards. Well done Sandy.
