Cheshire v NUGC – Ringway GC – 15 June 2025

An absolutely fantastic result down in Cheshire, where after a tough start to the match where we trailed 4-2 after the morning Foursomes, however, we came back to win 9.5 to 8.5, at Ringway Golf Club.

In the top match, Harrison Sewell and Andrew Minnikin came out on top against Harrison’s England Team mate Dan Hayes and Josh McMahon. There was also a fine win for the in form Phil Ridden and Craig Penny.

It was all to play for in the singles, where a fast start was needed, and that fast start duly came. We picked up 5 points from the first 7 matches, with excellent wins for Harrison Sewell, Mark Wharton, Andrew Minnikin and James Cram, with halves for Cam Thoburn and Rob Henderson.

This meant we needed 2.5 points from the last 5 matches – which were delivered by Phil Ridden, Andrew Griffiths, Paul Caldicott and Craig Penny.

A great day for Captain Andrew Minnikin who celebrated his record breaking 132nd appearance by winning both his matches, securing his singles win with a fine birdie on 18.
