Close House Golf Club hosted the North & South Trophy on Saturday 4 May. The course was in immaculate condition, despite a deluge of rain the night before the Event. Finally the weather was on our side as we travelled to Alnmouth Village for the Inter County foursomes finals. We were greeted with a day of bright sunshine on an immaculately presented course.
This Sunday, 21 April, we play our annual match against our friends from north of the Border, the Lothians Golf Association This is a 12 per side fixture, with morning foursomes and afternoon singles. First tee is 10:18. Goswick Links are kindly allowing us to use their course for this important fixture, prior to the start of the Northern Counties League
The sun shone for long enough to allow us to complete the Second and Third rounds of the Inter County Foursomes. In the final four second round games, played at Newbiggin, there were wins for The Northumberland, Newbiggin, Newcastle United and Backworth.
The first day of the Inter County Foursomes, scheduled to be played at Bamburgh on Saturday 6 April, was unfortunately cancelled, luckily Warkworth Golf Club were able to provide additional times to those already booked, meaning we could get the entire first round played.
