On Saturday 22 June, we had a great weather day at Newbiggin for the 1st and 2nd Division Teams Championships. Firstly a big thanks to Newbiggin and their members for giving up the course today. Cheshire v Northumberland Seniors
Northumberland Seniors travelled to Astbury GC in Cheshire for the first of 3 consecutive away matches on the road. Considering Astbury GC had been closed 2 days previously due to flooding of the fairways and greens the course was in excellent condition. There were wet patches in places but the greens played well. County Seniors Championship
The second and final round of the Seniors Championship proved to be a dramatic one. The 15 players who made the halfway cut were separated by only 7 shots, with defending Champion Steve Findlay holding a 1 shot overnight lead. The conditions were cool with a gentle breeze.
