Finally the weather was on our side as we travelled to Alnmouth Village for the Inter County foursomes finals. We were greeted with a day of bright sunshine on an immaculately presented course.
The Durham final was a topsy turvy encounter, with Durham City racing 5up through 11 holes, only to lose to Chester Le Street on the 2nd extra hole. Commiserations to Durham City pair, Richard Lee and Alex Robinson.
In the Northumberland final, it was a victory for The Northumberland, who edged out the City of Newcastle duo Andrew Minnikin and Phil Ridden on the 17th hole.
After a quick turnaround the Inter County Final got underway, with The Northumberland team of Paul Caldicott and Harrison Sewell gaining an early advantage. The experienced Chester Le Street Team of Brian Nelson and Kevin Suggett fought back, only to eventually lose 4&3, in a final that was played in excellent spirits.
Thanks to the Durham Union for all of their assistance during this event.
It was very encouraging to see all 4 clubs very well supported.
Congratulations to The Northumberland on their victory and a special thanks to Alnmouth Village for their continued help and support to golf in our county.
